Write to your MP about touring the EU

Dear {Your MP name}

As a musician and one of your constituents, I am writing to you because I am extremely concerned about the impact Brexit may have on my ability to work in the EU27 following the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020. This is as a result of the continued uncertainty surrounding the sort of trade deal the UK Government will negotiate with the EU.

The UK Government has stated that freedom of movement will end following the the end of the transition period. However it is unclear whether UK-based musicians will still be able to tour the EU. If UK-based musicians have to attain visas for every EU27 country that they visit as a result of the UK occupying third country status, this would damage the livelihoods of tens-of-thousands of musicians who rely on work opportunities within EU27 countries. The Government must negotiate a two year, multi-entry visa for UK musicians, ensuring that they are able to tour and travel unimpeded across the EU without bureaucratic or financial challenges.

At the moment there are many obstacles in the path of our music community which will severely damage not just our livelihoods but also the music sector. I am asking you to pledge to ensuring that the music sector and musicians are protected and ask ministerial colleagues about the issues detailed above.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Yours sincerely
