Life after levels: a guide to progression, curriculum and assessment
Professor Martin Fautley (Professor of Education at Birmingham City University) and education consultant Dr. Alison Daubney lead a webinar linked to their recently published Framework for Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment in Key Stage 3 Music aimed at secondary classroom teachers, music hub and service leaders.
Following the huge success of the previous Progression, Curriculum and Assessment webinars, this webinar will help teachers to develop their curriculum, pedagogies and approaches to assessment in order to better support teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 Music. It unpicks some of the challenges around ‘progress' and ‘progression’ and how these are impacted by the ways in which learning in a school is organised.
The webinar considers ways in which a range of different types of assessment can be beneficial to pupils, teachers and school whilst still being mindful of the constrained and somewhat rigid and unmusical systems of reporting in many schools. Specific examples for work in Key Stage 3 will be used.
