We are thrilled to announce that the London Sinfonietta will be performing an exciting programme of music, brought to you by percussionists Oliver Lower and Joe Richards.
The London Sinfonietta is one of the world’s leading contemporary music ensembles and is a Resident Orchestra at the Southbank Centre and Artistic Associate at Kings Place, with a busy touring schedule across the UK and abroad.
Their ethos is to experiment constantly with the art form, working with the world’s best composers, performers and artists, collaborating with young people, communities and the public to produce music projects often involving film, theatre, dance and art.
Kabantu (appearing as duo: Katie Foster, violin & Delia Stevens, percussion) are an award-winning group from Manchester who compose and perform original folk fusion music, inspired by global sounds and cross genre virtuosity.
They are passionate about combining their individual classical training with their love for varied musical influences, collaborating in autonomous creation to fuse the Latin grooves of their German percussionist with the furious fiddling of their Scottish violinist, to name one example!
Kabantu means "of the people" - stemming from the South Africanphilosophy of Ubuntu: "I am who I am because of who we all are".
