The Independent Society of Musicians were delighted to attend this year's Ditto X: Meet The Music Industry conference and networking event, held at the Indigo at London's O2 Arena.
The ISM hosted a panel event on Challenging discrimination in the music sector, where the findings and recommendations from our landmark new report Dignity at work 2: Discrimination in the music sector were discussed and our #Dignity2Work campaign was launched. The session heard from ISM's Chief Executive Deborah Annetts, co-authors of Dignity 2, ISM President Vick Bain and Research and Policy Officer Dr Kathryn Williams, and Roger Wilson, Director of Operations at Black Lives in Music.
ISM Chief Executive Deborah Annetts also joined a discussion on Gig economy: navigating new challenges in live music, discussing navigating the live music industry, the ways in which musicians are struggling in the gig economy and the challenges facing musicians including the barriers to touring posed by Brexit, the cost of living crisis and insufficient income from streaming.
The ISM also held a stall at Ditto X and our team were delighted to meet a number of attendees and discuss the work the ISM is doing on campaigning including our new #Dignity2Work campaign, the benefits of being an ISM member and much more. We greatly enjoyed meeting colleagues and friends from across the music sector.
