Inappropriate behaviour in the music industry: ISM statement

In the wake of the recent Harvey Weinstein revelations, many women in the arts, including music, have found the courage to speak out about sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying, exploitation and abuse they have experienced. The extent of the problem is truly disturbing.

Please do not feel that you have to cope with an experience of this nature by yourself. That is precisely why the ISM exists. Our highly skilled in-house female employment lawyers are here to help you. They can provide you with advice, guidance and support in the event you experience such behaviour, regardless of whether you are self-employed or employed.

You can access this advice if you are an ISM member by contacting the ISM legal team at [email protected] or by contacting our 24-hour advice line on 01275 376 038. The ISM also runs a counselling helpline on 0800 042 0136.

The ISM takes unprofessional behaviour in the workplace extremely seriously. This includes all types of discrimination. As a professional association our Codes of Conduct make clear the standards expected of our members. Failure to meet these standards will be investigated and appropriate action taken.
