Professional community

ISM membership provides a sense of family. Knowing a support network is always there is a great comfort.

Craig Ogden, Freelance Guitarist

As an ISM member, you will be part of a unique professional community of musicians working in all areas of the music sector - from performers, composers and educators to DJs, music administrators and studio technicians.

Networking is an important part of developing a music career. Our seminars and events give you the opportunity to meet a range of musicians from all walks of life. Find out more about our professional development events.

Special Interest Groups

Our policy, advice and campaigns are led by our members through round table meetings, surveys and the Performers, Composers and Educators Special Interest Groups (SIGs). As an ISM member, you will be able to contribute to this work and influence music education as well as policy at the BBC, PPL, PRS, PPL and others.

Local groups

Our network of local groups, run by your fellow members across the country, provide the perfect opportunity for you to meet other musicians, network and build valuable professional relationships as well as making friends in your local area.

Stay connected

Our Music Journal, regular e-newsletters, website and social media will keep you in touch with our community and the wider music world. You can also access our press releases, features and interviews, blogs and podcasts on our website.
