Supporting secondary students to compose independently

This 1.5 hour webinar will be led by composing in education expert Dr Kirsty Devaney and is designed to help secondary music teachers to support their students to compose independently. The session will cover a variety of issues including starting points, use of limitations, and how to support the different stages of the composing process.
The webinar will be delivered by Zoom, and will be limited to 12 participants to allow plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Kirsty Devaney is a British composer whose work specialises in working with and writing music for young and non-professionals. In 2011 she was shortlisted for a BASCA British Composer Award. She completed a PhD in composing in education at Birmingham City University, and is a Junior Fellow at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she leads the ‘Young Composers Project’, an initiative to encourage more young people to compose.
