COVID-19 advice for music professionals

Expert advice from your professional body

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we've been creating specific advice to support music professionals, from understanding your rights as an employee or contractor, to the practical side of online teaching and performing.

We've also been tirelessly campaigning for musicians' rights, particulary in regard to self-employment support from the government. You can help us by writing to your MP.

You can join the ISM if work in the music sector, including if you're helping to make music happen behind the scenes: backstage or in the office - you are eligible for our support.

Get advice on making music online, including teaching resources, how to make money from livestreaming, and a guide to copyright and online performing.

Our finance and work advice includes new guidance on the easing of lockdown, and our helpful guide to the Self Employment Income Support Scheme, plus much more.

Our legal team have been protecting ISM members’ working lives by supporting them on matters including health and safety concerns, government support schemes, furlough agreements and more. Our team also helps to reclaim lost income caused by cancelled work and any other issues affecting their music careers.

'Thanks to the ISM team for your invaluable help in these difficult times. Your work is very much appreciated.'

'It is so good that musicians have bodies such as ISM to stand up for them.'
