Record Store Day 2019

Record shops across the UK and beyond are gearing up to deliver the biggest vinyl party of the year on Saturday 13th April. Hundreds of artists have come together to support independent record shops and create one-off, exclusive vinyl releases especially for Record Store Day. Fans have been waiting in anticipation to see what will feature on 2019’s list.

Artists such as The Rolling Stones, IDLES, Aretha Franklin and Iggy Pop have all produced special records which will only available from participating shops. A number of artists are also offering fans an opportunity to get their hands-on brand-new music including The Flaming Lips, Julien Baker and Courtney Barnett.

What is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day is a celebration of independent record shops. It is the one day of the year when 250 record shops come together to celebrate their unique culture and independence. Hundreds of artists come together to release special, limited edition vinyl releases for the participating shops. Record shops celebrate all around the globe by hosting parties, in-store performances and live events for their customers.

Record Store Day is about championing their originality, independence and the unsung heroes behind the counter who work hard to keep their doors open every day of the year. Though there is a still a long way to go, the success of the event has sparked a huge turnaround in fortunes for the nation’s independent record stores, with new shops opening at nearly one a week since last year’s Record Store Day. And vinyl continues in popularity as the latest market stats show that over 4m vinyl records were sold in 2018 – that’s the highest volume since the early 90s. That marks more than 10 years of growth for the much loved format.
