Jodie Underhill

Research Associate

Jodie joined the ISM in August 2020 following a career in teaching. She leads on research on key policy areas which feed into our vital campaigning and lobbying work.

She holds a PhD in psychology from Keele University where her research focussed on musical culture and participation within different school settings and is a qualified music teacher with over 18 years’ experience. She has been a Head of Music, Head of Drama and Head of Performing Arts, and has taught across all Key Stages in state and independent schools and weekend performing arts schools. She has run her own private teaching business in addition to having been an examiner for both GCSE music and A Level drama. She is the current Chair of Brizen Young People’s Centre in Cheltenham.
