Nicolas Chisholm MBE
Nicolas Chisholm was ISM President in 2016-17 and has been a member of the ISM for 30 years.
Nicolas Chisholm was Headmaster of the Yehudi Menuhin School for 22 years. Previously, he was Head of Classics and a Housemaster at Hurstpierpoint College, and before that sang in Chichester Cathedral Choir. He was a choral scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge where he studied Classics.
Nicolas is a Trustee of the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra and Brighton Early Music festival a governor of the Royal Ballet School and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians. He directs the Iford Village Choir and the Brighton Singers, and sings with Lewes Singers, East Sussex Bach Choir, Brighton Consort of Voices and the Esterhazy Singers. He is the former Chairman of South East Music Schemes and former Chairman of the National Association of Music and Dance Schools. He ran the Stoke d’Abernon Festival in 1996 and 2006.
Nicolas’ other interests include archaeology, classic cars and watercolour painting. He was awarded the MBE in 2011 for services to music education.
