Welcome to the ISM's Register of Professional Private Music Teachers. This is the only regulated online list of music teachers in the UK, providing a unique service to anyone looking for a private instrumental or vocal music teacher. The Register is a comprehensive directory of music teachers, offering a guarantee of professional status through membership of the ISM. Before being admitted to the Register, teachers must go through a stringent vetting process to demonstrate that they are professionally qualified and experienced music teachers - giving you, their client, complete peace of mind. Currently we have a wide range of instruments offered from violin, singing and piano teachers to guitar, cello and trumpet. Our teachers are based throughout the UK.

Music teachers listed in this Register are all members of the ISM and members of the ISM's Private Teachers Section. The teachers are listed only after ISM colleagues and officials have scrutinised their qualifications, experience and achievements. This rigorous approach is applied to each instrument offered.

The ISM expects its members to demonstrate professionalism, service and dedication.

A member of the ISM Register of Professional Private Music Teachers will:

• be a fully professional, trained music teacher;
• be interested in the musical development of each student and development;
• charge a professional fee for providing a professional service which includes preparation, marking, record keeping and planning;
• be maintaining their own business records usually as a self-employed musicians;
• follow the ISM Code of Ethics (click here);
• follow the ISM Code of Practice (click here);
• have passed a DfES List 99 or Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure check.

2. Choose how you would like to sort the listing of teachers - by Category (specialism - e.g. piano, voice or singing, violin etc.), Location (e.g. by country (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland), county (Surrey, Kent, West Midlands) or city (London, Surrey, Manchester, Birmingham) or Surname.
3. Use the drop down menus to narrow your search
4. You will then see each teacher's listing, giving full name and qualifications, address and contact details.
5. After the instrument you might see a series of letters and numbers. These give more information about the music tuition offered:
