At its meeting on 3 May 2007, the Performers & Composers Section Committee:

>    reviewed the range of standard contracts provided by the Society and the advice available to composers and commissioners of new work;

>    considered a response to Arts Council England’s policy consultation on the public value of the arts;

>    received reports on legal and general services, on broadcasting and rights organisations and on the latest developments in education and professional development;

>    approved three applications for PCS membership.

MES Committee

At its meeting on 12 May 2007, the Music in Education Section Committee:

>    considered a response to the Department for Education & Skills’ public consultation on New Charging Regulations for Music Tuition;

>    noted developments in the Qualification & Curriculum Authority’s review of the Secondary Curriculum, including the ISM’s response to the public consultation on the revised Programmes of Study for Key Stage 3;

>    considered proposals for the establishment of a national council for subject associations;

>    reviewed the preliminary results from the first survey of fees charged by visiting teachers in schools;

>    approved eleven applications for MES membership.

At its meeting on 15 May 2007, the Private Teachers Section Committee:

>    received a report on the latest developments on Disclosure and the implications for the PTS procedures for entry to the Register of Professional Private Music Teachers;

>    reviewed plans for the seminar Music in Mind: Images & Reflections to be chaired by the PTS Warden on 29 September 2007;

>    received a report on the MTPP Initiative and other education and professional development matters;

>    approved 15 applications for PTS membership.
