ISM and Jazz Services join forces to back the Live Music Bill

The ISM and Jazz Services announced today that there are deep rooted concerns from the music sector that government plans for a further review could delay progress of the Live Music Bill.
NAYO ceases operations as ABO steps in to help

This week the National Association of Youth Orchestras (NAYO) will be winding up having ceased operations on 31 March.

The ISM welcomes the coalition government's commitment to reduce live music bureaucracy and calls on the government to introduce the Live Music Bill which had front bench support from both governing coalition partners before the election.
Vetting and Barring Scheme registration halted

On 15 June, the new Coalition Government announced that registration with the new Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) was being halted, pending a remodelling of the scheme ‘back to proportionate, common sense levels’.

We have had a number of enquiries about charging for lessons that pupils were unable to attend, due to the disruption to air-travel caused by volcanic ash. Should visiting music teachers be paid for lessons missed in this way?
