14 April 2005

The 2005 edition of the ISM’s Register of Musicians in Education has recently been published. It includes ISM members who belong to the Society’s Specialist Section for Musicians in Education.

This classified directory, cross-referenced with an alphabetical index, gives access to a wide range of specialists in pre-school, primary and secondary education; specialist music and choir schools; continuing further and higher education; instrumental teaching in all sectors; music therapy; establishments for special learning needs; advisory and inspection services; public examinations; educational projects; and freelance consultancies.

An appendix of professional information includes ISM recommended fees for visiting instrumental teachers in schools; the text of the inaugural address made by the Warden of the Section, at the ISM’s annual conference; and a list of the ISM’s advice and information sheets relevant to musicians in education.

ISM Chief Executive, Neil Hoyle, said:

‘The ISM Register of Musicians in Education provides a unique source of information about its members who work in every sphere of music education. It brings them together in one directory that can also be readily searched online.’

A version of the register, updated on a weekly basis and searchable by category and location, is available on the ISM website – www.ism.org. The 2005 paper version is available (price £12) from the ISM, 10 Stratford Place, London, W1C 1AA, T. 020 7629 4413, F. 020 7408 1538, E. membership@ism.org, or can be ordered online at www.ism.org.

Ends 05/2005
