ISM NEWS: With Grateful Thanks - Letters from Members

The ISM is always available to advise members on legal problems and contractual disputes, and we frequently act directly to assist them in reaching a satisfactory outcome. Members often write to express their gratitude for our help in professional disputes and problems. Here is a selection from recent correspondence:

> A member whom we assisted in recovering royalties wrote:
‘May I thank you enormously once again for all your magnificent help with my problems. I am not quite sure how I would manage without the continuing support of the ISM. It certainly makes a big difference to my life.’

> A member who sought assistance with issues at schools in which she taught wrote:
‘Thank you for your help with this issue. Also very many thanks for your invaluable assistance with the [other] dispute. Once [you] stepped in there was no further query from the school! Your help is greatly appreciated.’

> A member who came to us with problems over the way in which he was being paid by an educational establishment wrote:
‘An organisation such as the ISM, which really understands the needs and difficulties which musicians face in this country, is worth every penny of the membership fee. How I wish more of my colleagues would join the ISM!’

> A member whom we assisted when he experienced employment problems wrote:
‘I cannot thank you enough for your attention and support at this time. … I am indebted to the ISM…. for your professionalism and reassurance.’

> A member who asked for our help in recovering tuition fees wrote:
‘May I take this opportunity to thank you for your invaluable help and support in our two phone calls and for the speed with which you grasped my situation. Your clear advice allowed me to progress with confidence in pursuing the claim. I would have no hesitation in recommending the ISM to other musicians, following the prompt service I received.’

> A member for whom we took up a successful claim for holiday pay wrote:
‘Thank you for your work and advice on this matter over the last few months. Your expertise and experience has been most appreciated.’

> We recovered unpaid fees and fees in lieu of notice for a member, who wrote:
‘I was delighted that you had secured payment of the full amount. I would like to thank....the ISM for your help in resolving this mater, which is very much appreciated.’

> A member whom we helped recover performance fees wrote:
‘Thank you so much for all your help regarding this matter. I’m really glad I asked you to act on my behalf, as I believe I may never have been paid.’

> A member whom we advised on contractual issues wrote:
‘Because of the excellent response you have given us, one or two other members of staff are considering joining the ISM! …. I do sincerely thank you for your advice.’
